New Hope for Brain Injury Cases
A recent article in the Wall Street Journal highlighted promising research that has resulted in a new test for detecting traumatic brain injuries. The test looks for the presence of biomarkers, or proteins, that are produced by an injured brain. The U.S. Defense Department is expected to provide $17 million to fund a major study to assess the extent that biomarkers can reliably detect the extent of brain injury and help doctors decide on a course of treatment. “I think this will revolutionize brain-injury care” said Col Dallas Hack, a medical doctor in charge of the U.S. Army’s combat casualty treatment.
